This is an appreciable slice of volcanic olivine cut away from a larger piece that I acquired from Gary Fujihara. While not a meteorite, meteorites do often contain olivine (certainly in pallasites, but in various microscopic forms within many meteorites) just not in such large sizes as this. If you appreciate the beauty of natural history specimens, this is a nice specimen at an affordable price. Unfortunately I couldn’t get this particular specimen to be translucent. I had cut a number of thinner slices but many of them broke during cutting and/or polishing.
