This is a near transparent slice of volcanic olivine cut away from a larger piece that I acquired from Gary Fujihara. While not a meteorite, meteorites do often contain olivine (certainly in pallasites, but in various microscopic forms within many meteorites) just not in such large sizes as this. If you appreciate the beauty of natural history specimens, this is a nice specimen at an affordable price. This particular slice I was able to get at least partly translucent. I had cut a number of thin slices like this but many of them broke during cutting and/or polishing. This one survived thankfully.
